Summary

The ideal candidate for Lead Infant Teacher will have at least a CDA credential and have two years of experience working with young children (ages 8 weeks - 40 months). A Bachelor's or Associate's degree is preferred but not required. 

The ideal candidate for Infant Assistant Teacher could also be a high school graduate, at least 19 years of age, working towards a degree in early education, or hold CDA or TCC credentialing, and have experience in an early childhood program. CPR and First Aid a plus, other training and background checks will be required upon hire.

Duties

Infant Teachers operate the classroom in compliance with all Georgia child care licensing standards. S/He ensures that child care routines are carried out in a manner that is prompt, hygienic, and consistent with good child development principles. This includes routines related to diapering, hand washing, eating, napping and transitioning between activities and co-curricular classes. The position also ensures that parents receive adequate information about their child's experiences at the school through daily contacts and regularly scheduled parent conferences. A teacher provides daily care individually to each toddler, including but not limited to diapering as needed and scheduled feeding. The teacher also observes children to detect signs of illness, injury, emotional distress, or other special needs and report these signs immediately.

  • Be the primary caregiver for children in the classroom

  • Soothe children by singing to and cuddling them
  • Supervise toddlers on the floor as they play with age-appropriate toys
  • Supervise toddlers at nap time
  • Ensure play, sleep and changing areas are kept clean
  • Appropriately supervise children while keeping them safe at all times
  • Engage children in activities and play that stimulates their development
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of each child by responding to their emotional, social, and physical needs as well as their educational needs
  • Utilize developmentally appropriate practice and best practice methods at all times
  • Assist children with activities of daily life (restroom use, diapering, hand washing)
  • Approach parents daily and speak with them about their child(ren)

Qualifications

  • A caring individual who enjoys teaching young children
  • Possess a strong work ethic, be punctual, and have minimal absences
  • Be mentally and physically capable of caring for a group of children alone in a classroom
  • Great customer service skills to communicate effectively with parents
  • Have an awareness of the unique needs of young children and have appropriate expectations
  • Be able to kneel, bend, squat, lift, push, pull, and carry children up to 50lbs
  • Be available for employment and available to work as early as 7:15 am or as late as 5:30 pm
  • Have dependable transportation
  • Completion of the Early Childhood courses as designed by the state
  • Meet annual professional development requirements as required by the school
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Extended periods of time sitting on the floor
  • Ability to work year-round
  • Must be able to work well together on a team with other teachers
